A few of my vintage Swedish plates are chipped, the marble kitchen worktops already have some scratches, and the beautiful set of 6 glasses I bought in Japan is down to 3 (with kids, things get broken a lot!)
But I’m learning to be less precious about things. If I buy lovely plates, I don’t want to stick them in the cupboard and use them once a year... I'll enjoy their beauty, even if it's for a quick piece of toast.
